This
diagram shows the transit as seen from Britain. The times apply to both London
and Edinburgh.
The
times of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th contact
are shown, together with the time of mid-transit (‘M’)

There
is also an error on page 72. In the monthly calendar, the entry for September
28 should read
’19:27 Mercury at greatest elongation (17.9°E, mag. -0.5)’
(i.e., it is at eastern, not western elongation, and thus in the evening sky.)
The text on page 71 is correct.
